Class 4 Anti-Smoking Workshop
As part of our Healthy School work and PHSE curriculum, Year 5 and 6 took part in a free smoking prevention workshop run by Derbyshire Health Promotion (NHS). There were several engaging activities that made the children think about the risks and dangers of smoking. They also found out about e-cigarettes and that there is not yet much research about their safety.
“I learned that a cigarette has over 4000 chemicals in it and it made me realise that they are really dangerous.”
Maddie Class 4
“I learned that there are many ways to say “No” if someone asks you if you want to try a cigarette. I would say “No, I want to be fit and healthy and play sports.””
Keaton, Class 4
“I learned that smoking is bad and I don’t want to smoke because I don’t want to get any kinds of diseases caused by smoking, like lung cancer, bladder problems and muscle failure.”
