Saltmine Theatre Company Performance of E-Safety Play
On Wednesday 28th September 2016 the Saltmine theatre group performed a play called Escape to KS2 children. This was a story about Sarah Thompson who lives on the edge of an enchanted forest, which on her eleventh birthday she is allowed to enter for the first time on her own. She starts her adventure with the three rules that will keep her safe echoing in her ears, but there are wolves in the forest and when Sarah meets a stranger all is not as it seems. Will she remember the rules? Or will she leave the path and go her own way?
Using a combination of a play and an interactive workshop the play taught pupils the rules of the internet in a fun and accessible way.
The children enjoyed the performance and took an active part in the workshop which was very interactive, with children coming out to the front and taking on the role of various characters.
The children also took home a letter from Derbyshire County Council, to share Online Safety Advice, which linked to the thinkuknow website and the SMART rules that are taught in school.
Please take a look at the display in the hall showing photographs of the workshop and play.
